A Question I've Long Been Afraid to Ask

So... are all of you cat-people? Any other dog-loving weavers? Vote on the poll on the sidebar, everybody.

  1. It does seem like a lot of weavers have cats. I have had cats but I have two dogs now! They show no interest in my weaving.

  2. Four Yorkies, one Irish Setter, 4 parrots, two alpacas......I still want a Macaw, a horse and a cow :D

  3. We used to have cocker spaniels. I was definitely a dog person. Definitely not a cat person. I kept refusing the children's requests for a cat. Not a cat person. We have a dog. Then one day, in the middle of winter, it turned out that they had been keeping a cat that they had found. Poor thing! How could I not let them keep it! Now the children are gone. We have had cats ever since. Much easier to get up and go whenever you want. But I do miss dogs.....

  4. I've voted "all creatures great and small" because I enjoy appreciating other people's pets! I have the wrong life for pets of my own.

I grew up with cats, but if I had choose between a cat or a dog for a pet now, I must say that it would have to be a dog. We'll get one eventually.

  5. Something I hate to admit, lest you all stop talking to me, is that outside dogs and some fish, I'm pretty much a "Shoo!" person, really... I'm relived to see dog-lovers coming out of the woodwork... Please post more pics of your dogs!

  6. I'm afraid I am a total cat-person. There are individual dogs whom I love very much, but "dogs" as a group are not my thing. The trouble for me is that a bad owner makes a huge difference to a dog, and I was put off by a few of these at an early age. If a cat should have poor-quality humans, however, it is quite likely just to shrug them off and move out!

  7. Since my pic is my doggy Sasha, I need not say more. I love her and she loves my knitting and weave yarn if it's anywhere near her on the floor she'll lay on it and claim it as her own. ;o)

  8. Cally, Ben was saying cats seem to be less bothered, or their behavior is less influenced, by bad humans.

    YEAH, YOU GO, DEEP END!!!

  9. Dog, deferentially dog.
A cat is like a person who gives a good relations only when he/she likes to. It's more like a behavior of teenagers. Oops, no offense, but you know what I mean.

  10. Kind of makes me think - I think you were more like a cat 20 years ago, kinda... Now you're definitely a scruffy dog!

    Now, roll over!

  11. I'm almost afraid to say this, as there are a lot of weavers out there who will instantly hate me...but since you asked I feel the need to answer! I am constantly surprised at seeing weavers blogs with CATS crawling all over the loom, the finished product, the warp, the yarn, the fleece...I have no objection to pets, but not on my yarns or loom - and I definitely wouldn't be happy about buy or selling something which had had a cat rolling all over it!
(mmm, I've probably just dug my own grave saying all that!)

  12. You're not alone, there, Ruth. I do look for animal hair when I think I'm buying. There's a car company which broadcasts TV commercial with multiple cats crawling over the cars and the dealership owner, and I would never ever allow Ben to even look at cars in this dealership. Ever. New (to us) cars have a strange enough smell, can you imagine if...

  13. Is it okay if I'm a dog loving bookbinder? I like cats but I love dogs. I've been away from my computer so just caught up with all your posts Meg, so much to think about from your writings. Hope the toothache is better.

  14. 11 hours 15 minutes to the appointment. It could have been a bad call to wait; on the other hand, I've had a bad experience with a locum dentist in the past. The good news is, if I have an infection and that travels up and starts to infect my brains, you won't notice it in Unravelling from the way I rant on at the best of times.
