Pop-Up Shop

Thank you for visiting my pop-up shop. This sale will keep going for the foreseeable future. Items may be added in that time, in which case I'll add them at the top of the list. Thank you!

Here are some winter woolies I promised. Not chunky-looking enough? Well, they are chunkier than my usual, and are sure to keep you warm on cool afternoon walks outside and cold nights inside.
"Old Fashioned" Series
The warp yarn used in this series is the old style, with the scale left on the fiber, the kind our mothers and grandmothers used to lovingly wash by hand. These yarns give a slightly felted, moist feeling to the cloth.

1. "Snow Day" Wrap
This is a thick, chunky piece, perfect for watching snow fall and listening to the silence.
Weft is merino bouclé; hand wash is recommended.
48cm * 196cm, hemmed
NZ$190, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$210, plus P/P everywhere else.

2. "Yesterday " Wrap
This is a feather-light piece and very warm. Some of the warp yarns were dyed with walnut husks by me. Did I mention it's very light?
Weft is possum/merino/silk mix; hand wash is recommended.
48cm * 196cm plus fringes.
NZ$190, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$210, plus P/P everywhere else.

3. "Always" Wrap
I can't stop handling this piece; it reminds me of the countless long trips my mother and I made to fabric stores, she trying to choose one to be turned into stylish suits by her sister. After hours, we often came home with more than one choice, of course.  Some of the warp and weft yarns were dyed with walnut husks by me.
Warp and weft are the same old style wool; hand wash is recommended.
51cm * 188cm plus fringes.
NZ$190, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$210, plus P/P everywhere else.

4. "First Choice" Wrap
I love this colorway. If I could sew, I would love a pencil/tube-style skirt in this fabric, to go with an undyed silk blouse and low-heeled black leather pumps with round toes.
Warp and weft are the same old style wool; hand wash is recommended.
52cm * 197cm, hemmed.
NZ$190, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$210, plus P/P everywhere else.

"Yesteryear" Series
This warp is also old school, somewhat scratchy but hard-wearing, perfect for long autumnal walks, or to keep in your car. (8 is not part of this series.)

5. "Green Apple" Wrap
In high school, I paid an awfully lot of attention to my hair, and I was faithful to a now-forgotten brand's Green Apple shampoo of this color. I still remember the smell as I twisted the big top on the rather un-shampoo-like stubby bottle.
Weft is New Zealand possum/merino/silk mix in two colors; hand wash is recommended.
55cm * 195cm plus stubby knots, which can be easily clipped if you like.
NZ$190, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$210, plus P/P everywhere else.

6. "My Dear, We're Still Goodbying" Wrap
This line from Bing Crosby's "Let It Snow" unfailingly brings back memories of friends in Minneapolis. People leaving were bedecked in every warm pieces of clothing known to our species, circa 1970's, while those who belong to the house shivered in sweaters and sometimes socked feet, unwilling to let go the cheerful visitors. And just to keep the nostalgic feel, I kept the ends of the fringes untrimmed. (But you can trim them if you like.)
Weft is New Zealand possum/merino/silk mix in two colors; hand wash is recommended.
55cm * 180cm plus fringes with uncut ends.
NZ$190, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$210, plus P/P everywhere else.

7. "Shifts" Knee Rug, not a Wrap
I love the way you can see lighter gray areas, in the color of the warp, and charcoal gray areas, the color of the weft; I design patterns this way, but it's not often the effect is so evident. Although I used the same yarns as in 5 and 6 above, only in different colors, this piece is scratchier, best suited perhaps as a light knee rug, even a keep-in-the-car piece. (Of course we all have them, right?) And if you have a smallish four-legged friend who needs a bottom warmer besides you, I'll throw in a related wool mat, 62cm * 77cm.
Weft is New Zealand possum/merino/silk mix; hand wash is recommended.
55cm * 135cm plus fringes.
NZ$60, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$80, plus P/P everywhere else.

And then a couple not in a series.

8. "Waves" Wrap
Evenings in Nelson, even in the light-until-10-ish summer, can be cool; this is what you need walking on Rabbit Island at dusk. This piece is slightly felted, somewhat like an old blanket but not scratchy, and is very light.
Warp is NZ wool, weft is New Zealand possum/merino/silk mix in two colors; hand wash is recommended.
56cm * 170cm plus fringes.
NZ$220, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$240, plus P/P everywhere else.

9. "It's a Dog's Life" Dog or Human Blanket
This is a hard-wearing dog blanket made of old-fashioned wool, which can only improve with the smell of a beloved pooch. Although... big humans can use it as a picnic/car blanket, and a small human can drag this around and fall asleep whenever, wherever.
100% wool, 122cm * 95cm plus chunky fringes.
NZ$60, plus P/P to New Zealand addresses.
NZ$80, plus P/P everywhere else.
