My seeds hasn't sprouted yet...

The floaty thing, in the indigo vat, is a natural and necessary part, I understand. Among other things, I imagine, it separates the indigo from the oxygen above when the vat is resting, and the bigger the better.

Someone else recently mentioned Quebrancho Black; it must be in fashion this year?Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01350447919000146804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27254015.post-88015591948463396772010-10-07T01:27:18.513+13:002010-10-07T01:27:18.513+13:00I made my first wode vat last weekend and have the...I made my first wode vat last weekend and have the same question about the stuff floating on the top. It's now gone but I don't know if that is a bad or good thing.
I also dyed a skein of yarn with Quebrancho Black and it's an awful brown. I'm going to over-dye it in the wode vat today. Fingers crossed...kylamuccihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16339738761802968331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27254015.post-76767977641111528682010-10-06T22:40:40.304+13:002010-10-06T22:40:40.304+13:00Gee, yes, Sampling. I can stop worrying about exactly which part I'm doing then.

Most of all, I see Tiki faces. I'm very tempted to dunk the whole thing again.Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01350447919000146804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27254015.post-17497440778919129832010-10-06T22:07:42.452+13:002010-10-06T22:07:42.452+13:00Interesting how people see different things out of...Interesting how people see different things out of the same patterns/images. I see deep sea creatures floating......maybe I have been watching too many documentaries!?
When I rinsed out one of my indigo pieces, Yoshiko explained that the oxygen in the water helps - maybe the two processes are happening at the same time?samplinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10569023578350980786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27254015.post-47143588145172634762010-10-06T21:16:58.411+13:002010-10-06T21:16:58.411+13:00But don't you think those faces on the latest ...But don't you think those faces on the latest scarf IS spooky? Sometimes they look like Roswell aliens, and sometimes praying mantis, and sometimes like a typical Japanese ogre mask. The patterns are quite big, too; about the size of a child's face. I am also reminded of Japanese horror movies, none of which I've ever watched!

BOO!Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01350447919000146804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27254015.post-5164360951597152772010-10-06T21:01:54.848+13:002010-10-06T21:01:54.848+13:00I love your blog, Meg. I can just hear you, walking through the indigo process (which, btw, is a total mystery to me) It's sad that people who make art are so hard on themselves. You're doing great stuff and more to come.Sunny -- aka Matriarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12343919025257403465noreply@blogger.com
