Just try to help them where it's needed, but don't try to change them - they'll be as frustrated as you! (Ask me how I know...) Even if it doesn't seem apparent, they really do appreciate you being there with them now. They know nothing lasts forever. Often, my mother hoped "lasts" would be a really short time.
