Weaving, Trying to Make Sense of my Time at the Bottom of this Planet, Occasionally Tending our Sisyphaen Patch
by the Goddess of Procrastination and Expert Forgetter
Hi Meg,I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that your work looks beautiful in the Feel of Fibre exhibition. It is installed alongside the work of a range of contemporary woven pieces, which effectively highlights the wide range of techniques and materials used. The opening last Friday was jam-packed with people - three shows were opening on the same night. Oddly, I think I was the only maker in attendance for the Feel of Fibre show. I'll pop back for another look before the show closes to take some photos of the exhibition installation, and I'll write a blog post about it soon, which you can read at my blog mosehouse studio.I hope you feel a little less like an asparagus shoot now!All the bestBronwyn Lloyd
Thank you very much, Bronwyn. Good to know the exhibition actually exists and people were there. Thanks, and look forward to your pics.
No problem Meg. It seems that the gallery is excellent at promoting exhibitions around Waiheke itself, but not quite as good beyond the island. I didn't receive any invitations until a day before the opening, and only after I emailed the gallery to ask if there were any invites. I had to do my own promotion for the show, which was difficult because none of the artists in FoF were listed on the website. Those details are really important I think. Anyway, make sure you email the gallery and ask them to send you a bunch of the invites. They're very handy to have in your archive as a record of the show in case you need to apply for funding etc. in the future.
Oh, good thinking Bronwyn. Thank you very much, I'll email them right away.
I love comments. Thank you for taking the time!
