A Day in the Life of Looms 2013

Mine, 1:00 PM, 1/1/2013, Nelson, New Zealand, 41°18 0"S / 173°13'10"E.
RH
Sample Loom: it is not that I dislike the loom nor the warp that this loom has the same warp as it did in 2011, but it must mean I have not done much contemplative weaving in a while. I do vacuum the top of the warp often, in fact.
Klik: Nth sample for the Friendship piece is still on. I have plans for this warp.
Jack: joyweaving.

Off to a wonderful, colorful, productive or relaxing, even-tensioned year, everybody!

  1. Meg, I love the warp on your sample loom. Please work on it. Is there enough for a scarf or is it wider for fabric.
Wasn't sure if we were doing "what's on the loom". We spent most of the afternoon walking in the Kaimai bush but I made it!

    1. Oh, no, I fully intend to weave it. It's just that sort of umplanned, supposedly spontaneous weaving requires a bit of... ummm... planning in terms of mindset, you see.

    1. Thanks, Marion, and a lovely 2013 to you, too.

  3. Ended up more of a 'projects in progress' rather than a 'what's on the loom' but http://jane.dallaway.com/projects-in-progress

    1. I couldn't leave a comment on yours today, Jane. I wanted to say... "I hear backstrap loom is hard on the body, so take it easy, but it's something I've always wanted to do because if one feels so closely involved on the RH, backstrap must be even more so! Your 30yearsagotoday sounds fascinating. It's a far more personal version than my reading The Assassin's Cloak. Did your grandmother leave without her handbag on 1 Jan?? I hope you have a lovely 2013, Jane."

  5. It started out not so much as "what's on the loom" but more "in appreciation of our looms" but what the heck, thanks, ladies.

  6. Hi Meg, not quite weaving in progress so hopefully the view of my loom will change before too long!

  7. Hi, Meg, I've posted my "state of the loom" report on my blog (sandrarude.blogspot.com). Hope the ankle is better today!
    Happy New Year,
    Sandra

  8. We're all weavers, so no need to qualify! Glad to see you all.

My foot is in a hilarious predicament - it's very purple and hot in spite of the anti-inflamatory cream, it's so swollen it won't go inside any shoes, walking on it doesn't hurt at all, but it feels like a latex glove filled with grape juice - it vibrates when I put my foot down. It also looks like a toddler's foot - so puffy and soft and no wrinkles. And not a lot of my anatomy has got no wrinkles, so there is a plus side after all!

Tomorrow perhaps I'm hoping it will turn all purple and more dramatic. For now it just looks a bit... silly.

  9. Your looms have all the colors I most crave to weave on them. Happy new year and a quick recovery! Here's my post:

    1. New Loom for the New Year! (And hopefully the clean, de-stank heddles!) I hope you have a lovely time with your first warp.
